Types of Student Visas:

  • X1 Visa: For long-term study programs lasting more than 180 days.

  • X2 Visa: For short-term courses or exchange programs of 180 days or less.

Key Requirements:

  1. Valid Passport โ€“ Must be valid for at least 6 months with blank visa pages.

  2. Visa Application Form (Form V.2013) โ€“ Completed and signed.

  3. Passport-sized Photograph โ€“ Recent color photo on a white background.

  4. Admission Letter โ€“ Official letter of acceptance from a Chinese educational institution.

  5. JW201 or JW202 Form โ€“ This is the official visa application form for students issued by the Chinese Ministry of Education (provided by your university).

  6. Medical Examination Record โ€“ Required for X1 visa applicants.

  7. Proof of Financial Means โ€“ To show you can support your stay in China.

  8. Police Clearance Certificate โ€“ In some cases, to confirm good conduct.

Application Process:

  1. Secure admission from a recognized Chinese institution.

  2. Receive the admission notice and JW201/JW202 form.

  3. Complete the visa application form and gather all necessary documents.

  4. Submit your application at the Chinese embassy or consulate in your home country.

  5. Attend a visa interview (if required).

After Arrival in China (X1 Visa Holders):

  • You must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit within 30 days of entry at the local Public Security Bureau (PSB).

  • This permit will allow you to legally reside in China for the duration of your academic program.

Important Notes:

  • X2 visa holders are not allowed to work or extend the visa unless under exceptional circumstances.

  • X1 visa holders may take up internships or part-time work with permission from their host institution and local authorities.
